43(F) Squadron History Update

The last edition of the history of 43 Squadron written by Jimmy Beedle, a Flight Sergeant who served with the squadron throughout the Second World War and a founder member of the 43(F) Squadron Association, was published almost 25 years ago and covers the period from 1916 to 1983.  Sadly Jimmy is no longer with us but to mark the end of the Tornado era it has been decided to produce a further edition and an author has been commissioned to revise and update the book.

Those of you who have read Jimmy’s book will be familiar with his informal, jaunty style that relies heavily on personal experiences and amusing incidents.  Whilst operations in the Gulf, over Kosovo and elsewhere will clearly feature prominently in the new edition, light-hearted and anecdotal recollections that reflect the spirit and atmosphere during your time with the squadron are of equal importance if Jimmy’s style is to be maintained.

The 43(F) Squadron Association is co-ordinating the project and would be most grateful for any contribution, including photographs, that you might be able to provide.  If you can help, please contact Wing Commander Andy Moir at andrew.d.moir@googlemail.com
